“The limit of virtue is the absence of limit.”
— St. Gregory of Nyssa
About Epektasis
Epektasis is a word drawn from the heart of the Orthodox spiritual tradition. Used by St. Gregory of Nyssa, it names the mystery of the Christian life as an unceasing movement into God—a journey without end, even in eternity. For God is infinite, and therefore our knowing, loving, and becoming in Him is never complete, never exhausted, never still.
This site is a space for poetry, reflections, and contemplative writings shaped by that vision. It is rooted in the life of the Orthodox Church—her Scriptures, hymns, saints, and ascetical wisdom—and written in the conviction that faith is not static, but alive; not a possession, but a pilgrimage.
Here, growth in Christ is not understood as mastery or arrival, but as ever-deepening wonder. The closer one draws near to God, the more one discovers His mystery. Light gives way to greater light; knowledge opens into reverent unknowing; love stretches the heart beyond its former limits. From glory to glory, the soul is invited onward.
These writings do not seek to explain God, but to stand attentively before Him—to listen, to behold, to be changed. They are offered as traces along the path: words shaped by prayer, silence, struggle, and hope. If they serve at all, it is as a quiet companion to those who find themselves still walking, still seeking, still drawn forward by the beauty of Christ.
For in Him, the journey never ends.
